Dive RAID Specialty Diver Courses

Scuba diving is quite addictive, as you begin to dive more frequently and gain additional experience, you may find yourself wanting to venture deeper than 20m or explore more challenging environments.
If you want to take your exploration of the underwater world to a whole new level, Snorkel Safari offers a comprehensive range of courses as part of the Snorkel Safaris RAID continuing education programs.
Dive RAID offers a wide range of “Diver Specialties” to choose from that will add excitement and experience to your life. The day you say I have learnt enough is the day you stop living!

Dive RAID Specialty Courses. These specialty courses are designed to educate and/or train certified divers in the practices, understanding, principles and/or specific applications, which include (but are not limited to) specific environmental conditions; rebreathers; overhead environments; shark and other aquatic animals; photography, equipment; oxygen cleaning etc.

Prerequisites: To be of a minimum age as detailed in the Speciality. Documented proof of prerequisite requirements needs to be presented to the appointed Dive Centre for approval prior to any in-water training. To start the program(s), have a minimum number of logged hour’s underwater time as Completed, and passed the relevant academic Quick Quiz and Exam.

The prerequisites are detailed for each specific unit in the program:-

Specialty Course Content: Online E-learning academic presentations, quizzes, exam and practical skills as detailed for each speciality. Confined and open water sessions, as detailed in the specific speciality program.

Rebreathers: either as a stand alone or in addition to the skills required in the core level program(s). Student(s) will be required to complete a quick written quiz with the instructor prior to the commencement of any in-water training.

In-Water Training:

Confined Water – as detailed in the specific speciality program.

Open Water – as detailed in the specific speciality program.

RAID Specialty Certification: The minimum logged hours, as detailed, have been completed. All confined and /or open water skills have been acknowledged and accepted online (through the RAID web site) as mastered by the certifying RAID instructor and student. RAID Dive Centre has confirmed certification online through the RAID web site.

RAID Specialities: Only a RAID registered renewed RAID Speciality instructor may sign off student skills.


RAID Boat Diver Specialty Is designed to expand your knowledge of boats and diving from a boat. Boat Diver specialty is for any certified diver who has the equivalent of RAID Open Water 20. Whether you’ve never made a boat dive or you’ve logged dozens, the RAID Boat Diver Specialty course can benefit almost every diver because different boats in different parts of the world do things differently.

RAID Deep 40 Specialty is designed to extend your knowledge and skills to allow you to dive to deeper depths safely. It develops the knowledge required to plan, prepare and analyse for your dive to reduce stress and confusion, allowing you to enhance your diving experience. This specialty can be run for any certified diver who has the equivalent of a RAID Explorer 30 diver.

The Nitrox Specialty is designed to extend your knowledge and skills in the use of oxygen enriched gases for Sport Diving. It develops the knowledge required to plan, analyse and use an Enriched Air Nitrox breathing gas mix for recreational no decompression diving, any certified diver who has the equivalent of RAID Open Water 20.

RAID Side Mount Speciality is equipment specific regarding the use of Side Mount cylinders for open circuit diving for recreational and/or technical diving. The use of Side Mount cylinders is simply an alternative method of carrying gasses for the dive. It does not detract the operational procedures used for any level of diver certification.

The Performance Diver course is unique in the dive industry. It is designed to make you a better diver in almost any situation. The skills that you will learn in this course have been designed by some of the most respected divers in the world. Not only will this course make you a safer diver, prepare you for our other courses, but it will provide a range of skills you will use on every dive. No matter how well you dive now, Performance Diver will make you even better.

This Specialty is designed to extend your knowledge and skills of diving to allow you to dive on wrecks safely without penetrating them. It develops the knowledge required to plan, prepare and analyse for your dive to reduce stress and confusion, allowing you to enhance your diving experience. This specialty can be run for any certified diver who has the equivalent of a RAID Open Water 20 Diver.

This course provides you with the skills to undertake both simple and complex compass patterns, tips and tricks for natural navigation, and methods for navigating with your buddy. You will become familiar with the different tools and techniques available to improve your sense of diving direction. Diving at night can open up a whole new underwater world for you to explore.

You will learn about the extra safety considerations involved with this form of diving, buddy communication, emergency drills, and specialised equipment maintenance. You will also learn about some of the animals you are likely to encounter on your Night & Limited Visibility adventures – watch as the underwater world comes alive with a completely different array of nocturnal inhabitants.


RAID Search and Recovery Diver. This Specialty is designed to provide you with new skills and techniques to allow you to find lost objects underwater.


RAID Advanced Wreck Diver

This Specialty is designed to extend your knowledge and skills of diving to allow you to dive on wrecks safely including the penetration of wrecks. It develops the knowledge required to plan, prepare and analyse for your dive to reduce stress and confusion, allowing you to enhance your diving experience.
